Blind and Delirious

Hi everybody (the few people reading this blog yet I'd say)

As you can see from the "gigs" section next to this, we now have the first confirmed date for the "Torino Sotterranea" contest. It'll be on the 12nd of January so it's still pretty far away. Rules of this competition are quite simple: 20-minutes set for each band, no volume limits (well, they really didn't say anything about it). We really hope we'll do some more shows before anyway. We are waiting for another contest ("Rock On Circle") to tell us the start and hopefully a closer date.

Yesterday at the reharsals it was really a mess. The band playing before us left the place fifteen minutes later and the room really looked terrible. Roy was late as he always is. Our songs sounded far more speedy than usual. Well they didn't really "sound" like that, WE DID THEM LIKE THAT. We were completely in the mood and just didn't want to do things peacefully. Ham turned his amplifier at maximum volume on my request.. it didn't sound loud at all before! Are we damaging out ears already? It could be. Anyway, after a killing cover of Who's "My Generation", things fell apart and Ham threw the microphone away. Myself, trying to follow what was happening but keeping on playing, accidentally let my drumstick hit my eye. Fuck knows how it happened.. My left-eye lens died shortly after it. Rest In Peace.

Tonight, me and Ham will be watching the great Radio Birdman playing the Live Club in Trezzo, a village not too far from Milan. The unlucky Roy won't be able to join us instead. I wish you all a great weekend as the one we're getting close to. See you soon.

Cheers, Jody

Contest

We are happy to report our selection for the "Torino Sotterranea" rock contest. We've just been selected between 205 requests and 70 bands will make the struggle for the final win from now on. Maybe they liked our name's description? Who wouldn't!
Anyway, this means we'll have a date (and more, hopefully) in this beloved place called Turin anytime soon, probably later in October.
We'll be giving more news about this as soon as we have any.

Cheers, dan

Me and the band

Hello everyone. First post on this blog and first on a blog ever! I guess it had to happen someday.. Anyway, as the start, I'll go with the story of the three of us.

I met Ham through common friends back in the Autumn of 2004. He and Michele (Squirrel's voice and guitar) attended the same course at University, here in Turin. We were introduced at a gig but we didn't really love each other at first. We started going to shows together (Turin and Milan) and found ourselves sharing the same passion for live events and infinite love towards the fantastic sPAZIO 211 club. Now, as I think of shows, he's the one I always see myself with at any concert.

Marco (Rob.. or Bob) and I met at Uni in the Spring of 2005. I remember him coming to ask me where I had bough a Joy Division t-shirt from and that's how we started talking. We saw some concerts together and went to lessons without really listening to the teachers but thinking about silly names for the four-piece band we had started. It didn't really split up but stopped playing after some months even though we had written a couple of good songs.

We all kind of share the same tastes in music and we all support the one and only football team of the city, Torino. It's always a good start! We just found ourselves having to spend some free time before leaving for holidays on a sunny August afternoon so we decided to go playing for the pleasure of it and things went wild as fuck. It was all about attitude (and it's how it still is) and we played some tunes by Dinosaur Jr, Lemonheads, Big Star, Primal Scream and Teenage Fanclub without ever performing them before. It went down great and we left the room with the ears killed by the huge noise we did keeping the volumes insanely loud.

So, after Ham's band splitted up, it all seemed like the natural way to start a new band together. Things are looking brighter and brighter even after the few reharsals we've had so far. Hope it'll keep on going like this.
As for the choice to write this blog in English.. as a friend said, we think global!
See you back soon

Cheers, dan

A brief introduction ...

We were born three weeks ago after the official split of my previous band named Squirrel. We've just reharsed three times but we got three songs of ours and a four-cover set (Teenage Fanclub, some Primal Scream and the flashing Big Star, obviously) and we enjoy playing the stuff we always want to hear on the radio.

We're just a bunch of drunken buffoons fallen in love with power-pop and rough noises. It happens, sometimes.

Check Check

Hi, this is the first post of the brand new Somewhere Between experience. More news to come even if we don't have any.
